| Why do you need AdAids help? | Approximately 70% of our funding comes via government. We need to find the balance and advertising unfortunately is a luxury beyond our current means. It would be extremely helpful to be provided with a list of employers that have already expressed a desire to employ a learning disabled person, this way we could simply match employer requirements with employee skills and go from there. |
| What is the issue or problem your organisation responds to and who does it affect? | Poly-Emp is a supported employment agency. We specialise in finding work for people with learning disabilities often after they have completed preparation courses at Unitec or MIT. Once work has been found we assist with on-job training and are on hand to provide ongoing support to both client and employer should this be required. This support may continue for several years. |
| How could an advertising campaign help? What is the single biggest objective? | Most employers are unaware of the benefits associated with employing our clients - loyal, reliable, consciencious workers with a range of abilities. Admittedly sometimes their skill sets may be suited to more mundane tasks but even so this frees up other workers to get on with what they do best. Subsidies are often available should the person not be as productive as other workers. Sometimes it is simply a matter of increasing the length of any training & then the person is as productive as anyone else. As I see it there would be two main objectives to any campaign. Firstly raise employer awareness of our service and secondly provide a platform to market the skills of one or two of our clients each month, so that prospective employers approach us. |
